Dialogue with the Utah Transit Authority

Date: November 14th & 21st  2017

Location: Utah Transit Authority Police Headquarters

127 W Vine St, Murray, UT 84107

Emerald Project and the Utah Transit Authority came together for a conversation about Muslims using public transportation and law enforcement situations. Topics ranged from how to interact with a woman wearing hijab to how to keep refugees and immigrants safe while using public transportation such as Trax and Frontrunner.

Of our many dialogues this was a learning experience for our team! Many of the Utah Transit Authority officers had more experience interacting with Muslims and refugees day to day than we did. Listening to their stories and level of respect for our Muslim community made us proud to have such a mindful transit police force. Thank you UTA!
