Film Screening: The Judge
Date: November 7, 2019 6pm
Location: Utah Museum of Fine Arts
410 Campus Center Drive
Salt Lake City, UT 84112
Join us for a screening of The Judge presented in conjunction with Ummah, an exhibition in the ACME Lab exploring Islam and celebrating local voices. Then, stay for a Q&A with the film’s director Erika Cohn, moderated by Erika George, director of the University of Utah Tanner Humanities Center and UMFA board member. This documentary film follows Kholoud Al-Faqih, the first woman judge appointed to the Middle East’s Shari’a (Islamic law) courts, as she fights for justice for women and offers rare insight into both Islamic law and gendered justice.
Reserved seating for this event is at capacity; however, any ticket holders that are not present at the auditorium at 6:45 pm will forfeit their seats.
We will form a waitlist on the day-of-show that allows patrons to enter on a first-come, first-served basis. A spot on the waitlist does not guarantee entry into the auditorium. For safety reasons, there will be no standing room allowed in the auditorium.
